Bowl is signed on the back DE SIMONE Italy 64-4 Not For Food Use. Features a very colorful cubist bird and flower design beautifully hand painted to the interior with a crisp white slightly textured exterior. The interior is quite glossy and smooth . The piece is in excellent condition, no chips, cracks or crazing. The colors are very saturated. Two shades of yellow, red, orange, green, blue an brown. Vibrant and very collectible. The bowl has a 5 1/2" diameter and stands 2 1/2" tall. This is an original DeSimone signature.
Note: Giovanni DeSimone (1931-1991) was a versatile ceramist and painter whose works can be seen in museums around the world. Greatly influenced as a result of his extensive study with Picasso when he was a young man, DeSimone developed bright colors and simple lines to portray his beloved Sicily and the Mediterranean. In 1953 he was the first winner of the "Arte Applicata Regione Sicilia". In the United States his works are shown in Rockefeller Center Museum, The Gallery of Art at Connecticut State University as well as many public and private collections.
