Price is for both books. Very fine illustrations!! "The Story Of Red Feather" & "The Daughter of a Chieftain", both by Edward S. Ellis. Red Feather both in very good condition. The Story of Red Feather (A Tale of The American Frontier) is copyright McLoughlin Brothers, N.Y., 1908, 132 pages. Book has outside rubbing & the inside front cover has a tear on paper at the spine. The spine is totally intact. There are lots and lots of black & white illustrations.
The Daughter of a Chieftain (The Story of an Indian Girl) is tight with very clean pages and lots of black & white illustrations. There is an inscription on first end paper "Evelyn, From Momma, March 1917" Both books have color front-piece's that are fabulously detailed and lushly colored. I'm selling these as a set because I don't have the heart to break them up.
Note: Ellis was a major author during the era of inexpensive fiction of the nineteenth century which was known as the "dime novel." Because he wrote under dozens of pseudonyms, as well as under his own name, it is virtually impossible to know just exactly how many books Mr. Ellis wrote. It is believed there were hundreds; many about cowboys, Indians (native Americans) and the Wild West.
