This Japanese art print is a portrait of the tea house waitress Naniwaya Okita in a beautiful kimono serving a cup of tea. The print is vivid pure color and incredible detail. The print bears the artist's signature. This is not an original but a gorgeous print that almost looks like it is original. The artist Utamaro Kitagawa (1753-1806) was a ukiyo-e master and is a very famous print-maker. His genre is called "bijinga" (Pictures of Beautiful Women). The print is double matted and has a black wooden frame. There is a wood frame piece inside, sandwiched between the two mats that allow the print to have a depth of about 1 1/2". (This does not show up in the photo). You can tell that this was professionally matted and framed. The frame measures 12" x 16". There are a few slight dings to the frame but nothing can detract from this wonderful print. These are priced much higher if bought at a dealer or gallery (where this was originally sold).
