Batterby House
is now SOLDA beautiful and rare vintage circa 1890-1910s silverplated champagne bucket/cooler. This bucket is nice, heavy hotel quality and has an intertwined WL monogram on the front, which is the 1880s-early 1900s era logo for Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits. Wagons-Lits was known for the finest railroad dining & sleeping cars, but most famously for being the creator and operator of the Orient Express luxury passenger train.
In excellent condition, no large dents or damage, just lots of the usual scrapes, small marks, and signs of use you would expect from old railroad silver that was used daily. A few slight bumps to the top rim that make it look slightly out of round when you’re looking directly down into the bucket. It has very minor tarnish that will polish up beautifully, some staining inside from sitting water but nothing that affects the usability or beauty of this piece. No marker’s marks on the base of this piece, but all the previous Wagons-Lits buckets in this style we’ve had have been made by Christofle.
Measures 7.25 inches tall by 7 inches wide across the top opening.
