This is a great hand painted toleware bowl that is versatile for daily use. It has a japanned ground with a colorful hand painted border of bright greens and red. This bowl has a lovely shape with five fluted edges.
It is in excellent condition with only a few very minor losses to the paint. It looks like a signature on one side, but under magnification. it looks like dots that were intentionally applied to go through the paint down to the metal. Under this is a patch of paint loss that goes to the shiny metal.
It is 11.5 inches across x 2.75 inches high.
The green swags with the red berries make it perfect to use at Christmas time for your pomanders, Christmas balls, candies or for other useful purposes.
