Fabulous 19th century French Napoleonic Palais Royal carnet du bal, or dance card with a beautiful detailed painting under thick glass with beveled glass sides. The painting depicts the Place Vendome with people walking in the streets, on horseback and in horse drawn carriages. It is made of papier mache and the back is plain. The edges are decorated with gold inlaid flowers; the top right flower is silver in color.
The interior is lined with light blue silk moire with a matching unused silk moire little booklet and its original blue pencil with a bone top. There are three little leather loops that hold the pencil in tightly.
This c1870 little aide memoire is in excellent condition. There is crackling in the paint on the sides and at the top. This only shows in certain light and when turned on a certain angle. It measures 3.75 ins long x 2.25 ins wide.
