The thistle has been the national emblem of Scotland for centuries and is beautifully depicted on this Victorian Scottish brooch. Made in Edinburgh in 1891 this fully hallmarked sterling silver brooch is set with a beautiful purple glass stone in the center. During the Victorian period, following the example of Queen Victoria herself, English tourists would come to travel the Scottish highlands and much of this themed jewelry was made to take home as a souvenir such as this brooch. A wonderful wearable piece of Scottish history.
