This Classic Brooch is Just Begging to be Shown Off! Better Known as a Kondakoora, Traditionally This Would Once Have Been Used as a Hair Pin. However as Fashion Changes so to Has The purpose Changed And it Has Now Been Converted to a Brooch. The Feminine Shape is Not Unlike That of a Boteh Leaf Although Somewhat More Complex. The Pink Sapphires Are Inset to Represent Flower Heads Which Are Incorporated Into The Design And Are Surrounded by a Network of Hand Worked Silver (.925 pure or higher) Gilt Tendrils. The Reverse Shows Signs of The Traditional Hand Made Processes Used For Construction. The Hinged Silver Pin Has Been Provided With a Locking Loop Device to Avoid it Popping Out. Apart From Some Wear Tho The Gilt on The Reverse And Lower Front The Condition is Remarkably Good. The Fine Arrow Head Terminal Has a Slight Bend to The Tip Which Could Be Corrected Quite Easily. A Really Gorgeous Object That Can Still be Worn Today!
The Length of This Brooch is: 11 cm
I Would Date This Brooch to Circa 1900
