It is Easy to See Why This Crucifix Reliquary Has Been So Well Looked After For Over 300 Years. Almost Certainly a Family Heirloom That Has Been Passed Down From Generation to Generation. The Corpus Chisti Has Been Cast in High Purity Silver And Fashioned in a Soft And Gentle Manner. The Additional Silver Applications Including The Plaques,Banners,Terminals, Draw Handles And Drop Loop Ring Have Also Been Cast in High Purity Silver. The Silver Has Been Tested With an X ray Metal Analyzer And is Confirmed at Between 92-93% in Purity. Three (3) of The Silver Applications Are Also Hallmarked, This Mark is Attributable to Johann Adolf Gaap 1665-1718, Active in Both Augsburg Germany And Padua in Italy. It is so Pleasing to See Such an Original And Unmodified Crucifix Such as This. We Are Looking as it Was Supposed to be Viewed. The Form and Iconography Seem Consistent With Catholic Doctrine For Religious Objects of Devotion. The Steeped Wooden Base Houses Two Drawers That Are Now Sealed. Possibly to House Relics. The Condition of This Crucifix is Very Good. I Have Provided an Image of The Rear of The Steeped Base Which Illustrates Wood Separation And Cracking. This Has Caused The Crucifix to Lean Slightly. It is Completely Stable And Could Certainly be Improved Upon if The New Owner Wished. The Silver Elements Could Use a Passive Clean Although, as is, They do Have a Rustic Charm. It Will be Hard to Find Another Authentic Devotional Item Such as This, in Such Original Condition. A True Work of Devotional Art!
The Dimensions of This Crucifix Are:
Silver Corpus Christ- 12 cm high
Crucifix: 44 cm high
