Beautiful Art Nouveau Tea Set by Mettlach, the famous art pottery company known for its chargers and beer steins. The etched stoneware bears a pattern often referred to as Bluebells: a motif of flowering trees and patterned lines in blue, cream and ochre. This set was apparently produced during Mettlach's so-called golden age, from 1880-1910. Truly an uncommon fusion of natural and aesthetic designs, and of technicality and style. set is in excellent condition. Shipping costs to be determined upon location.
Teapot measures 5.5" tall with a 4" base, marked on the bottom with the company name and logo, ".Ges.Gesch.," "Reg. U.S. Pat. Off.," and the model number 2946 as well as some other serial numbers.
Covered sugar pot measures 4.125" tall with a 3.75" base, markings on the bottom identical to the teapot save for the additional "Made in Germany," the distinct model number 2948, and distinct serial numbers.
