Glass has been made on the Venetian island of Murano for centuries. This piece is long and elongated, but not awkwardly so. The top is thinner and slowly gets wider in a rounded way as it goes toward the bottom. Near the base, the shape begins to narrow again. The light blues and tear drop shapes that make up the texture and color of the piece are oceanic in theme. It reminds one of the scales of a beautiful fish or the waves meeting a golden, sandy beach of the Mediterranean Sea. This luxurious glass vase dates to c. 1950 and comes from the famous Barovier & Toso Glass Company in Venice, Italy.
