Possibly the Goddess of Mercy, Guanyin, this lovely figurine dates to the 20th Century. Fujian province in China has been famous for centuries by producing porcelain in this style. French for "White from China," this milky colored ceramic is unmatched. The woman is beautifully adorned, in flowing white robe and crown on her head (almost lotus shaped). Her long ear lobes resemble many depictions of the Buddha. One of her dainty hands holds a stunning flower, which wraps its way up her arm like a vine and is slowly opening. The other hand is pointing outwards. Her long robe conceals her legs. She stands upon a base of the same material, which consists of other flowers springing forth from fertile soil. It almost seems like a lily pad, which matches the rest of the nature theme in this figurine. The base itself stands upon another base made of wood. A beautiful piece for any collector of Asian wares.
