Possibly the Goddess of Mercy, Guanyin, this lovely figurine dates to the 20th Century. Fujian province in China has been famous for centuries in producing porcelain in this style. French for "White from China," this milky colored ceramic is unmatched. The woman is beautifully adorned, in flowing white robe and crown on her head (almost lotus shaped). A necklace drapes down her neck, which leads the eye to her cupped, dainty hands. They, in turn, hold two flowers, which come up to and over her left shoulder. Her long robe covers her legs, but one foot peaks out from this covering, revealing that she is barefoot. She stands upon a base of the same material, which consists of other flowers springing forth from fertile soil. A beautiful piece for any collector of Asian wares.
