The bisque porcelain scene depicts a young lad attempting to sooth a young girl who holds a dead bird in her lap. The 18th Century clothing and youthful themes remind one of the Romantic era. The piece is highly realistic with human emotions clearly depicted. Resting sheep and bare feet give a rural touch. This grouping is titled “Lorraine Dead Bird” from a model by Paul Louis Gyffle (c. 1765-75).
