This piece is quite rare. It is of a nude (topless) dancer in the early 20th century. The choice of only two dominant colors - blue and white - allows the viewer to focus on the beautiful human form. Her toe is arched over the round base, which results in the frozen flowing motion of her dress. The piece is signed on the base by the artist, Berthold Boehs. The bottom of the piece identifies the Rosenthal Company with the green crown stamp. This very rare figurine would make a fantastic addition to any Rosenthal collection.
The Rosenthal Company was founded by Philip Rosenthal Sr. in 1879 in Selb, Germany. Over the decades, it has emerged to become one of the world's finest porcelain and crystal manufacturers. Rosenthal recognizes that throughout history the things that people have valued the most and that have held their value have always been innovative, original, and reflective of the spirit of the time. For this reason, Rosenthal continues to be very collectible and cherished even to this day.
