This pitcher is quite unusual in that it does not have a standard spout. It depicts a woman who is sitting on a large green stalk as she holds a large bird. The woman is pale white with purplish brown hair and facial features. Her dress is one solid yellow, which matches the yellow in her blue and yellow cap. Her fowl is white with purplish brown. The detail on the bird is incredible, especially the wings. The handle of the pitcher is the stalk of the plant that shoots out and around to her back. Her head, as the lid, lifts off to reveal the inner portion of the pitcher. Dating to the 19th Century, this charming piece radiates with color and would find a special place in any French Faience collection.
