This gorgeous Longwy plate dates to c. 1920s. The edge of the plate is classic Longwy, while the interior of the piece depicts a Japanese motif. It seems to be inspired by the work of de Beaumont. In this case, the motif is of a peacock. Next to the central male on the rock is the female bird. In the tree and air above, other birds remain close by. A pale yellow background contrasts and brings out the variety of colors in both the birds and plants. A similar plate (same edge, different central motif) can be found in Dominique Dreyfus' Emaux de Longwy, p. 10. This is a must-have piece for any Longwy collector.
