This fabulous bi-fold card case of exotic material dates to c. 1881. Such cases would be used to hold business cards or money in the front pocket of a man's jacket. This particular case is made of alligator skin with a double pocket on the left side and a single large pocket on the right side. At the top of each portion of the case are the sterling silver markings. The material has held up superbly over the years. The skin is still radiant, the silver is in good condition, and the clasp that closes the case is in good working order. This would make a fine gift to any businessman or collector of Victorian items.
