This humorous brass bell dates to the Victorian era. It is formed into the shape of a clown. Perhaps it was used at the circus or for traveling fairs. Regardless, the expression and detail of the clown's head is remarkable. His long round nose juts out of the center of his head. His large grin is matched by his big eyes which are surrounded by indented brows. His balding head has two tuffs of hair - one on each side. This bald spot is covered by his hat. As it turns out, the hat is the handle of the bell! The bell still rings quite nicely. This would make a wonderful gift for any bell collector or anyone who appreciates whimsical objects from the past.
