This is a French Faience Wall Plaque. c. 1890. In an unusual parallelogram shape, this plaque depicts an androgynous figure in a green robe with curly blonde hair, on a bizarre background of deep blue silhouettes and yellow sunlight. The figure superficially resembles Julius Caesar, however there is no title to indicate this, and the figure may be any number of things. It is notable that the figure's facial features and robe, etc. are contoured in the clay in addition to being glazed on. The border's face is striped and textured in orange and green, and a textured border of white and maroon lines the side of the piece. The back is not glazed and bears no markings. This piece is in excellent condition, shipping costs to be determined upon location.
