A Victorian-Era, silver plate Gouda cheese holder, featuring a turning dial mechanism and three moving arms. The mechanism is operated by a dial on the underside of the base, which if turned clockwise will bring the three arms in, and if turned counterclockwise will spread the arms out. The food item being served would be placed on the central platform, and the dial would be turned to tighten the arms and hold the food in place prior to serving. This piece was made to hold a wheel of Gouda cheese, but can be used to serve anything you like, as the arms can be adjusted to very wide or narrow proportions. Piece is in perfect condition and in perfect working order. Measures 5" tall with a 4.25" round base and 4.5" handle, central plate measures 2.75" in diameter. Shipping costs to be determined upon location.
