This elongated egg shaped vase gives a close up of a garden scene in extraordinary, yet natural tones. The scene possesses a floral motif set between orange-yellow and brown hues. The orange and brown elements slowly deepen as one’s eye descends down the vase. The detail given to the flower is exquisite with every ruffle, pistil, and anther visible. The main flower is in bloom. The others are still buds, showing that it is still early spring. Dating to c. 1920, the piece is signed Galle. Emile Galle was the foremost French cameo glass artist during the Art Nouveau period.
