This piece depicts famous Russian ballerina Anna Pavlova as the “Dying Swan” c. 1930. The white glaze dress lights up the room as the genius dancer stretches her leg in a great performance. The ruffles on the dress complement the detail on Pavlova’s angelic face. She sits on a grey oval base with beveled edges on the side. The graceful ballerina would make a superb addition to any home or collection.
The dancer is signed by the designer, Constantin Holzer-Defanti. He worked for Rosenthal from 1919-1927 and specialized in dancers. The Rosenthal Company was founded by Philip Rosenthal Sr. in 1879 in Selb, Germany. Over the decades, it has emerged to one of the world's finest porcelain and crystal manufacturers in the world.
