Meershaum is a soft, white mineral often found in the Black Sea. It is often compared to sea form, which is where it gets its German name.
Meershaum began being used to make pipes in the 1700s, and they are considered the aristocracy of smoking pipes today.
This particular pipe depicts a hand holding the bowl of the pipe. Intricate designs make their way around the bowl and wrist of the hand and the mouthpiece is a beautiful, bright yellow.
