The decorative vase enchants the viewer with its eastern motif and array of striking colors. A rich color palette adds life and zest to the fabulous 1001 Nights tale of long ago. Intricately wavy lines give texture to a gorgeous woman surrounded by flowers set upon a deep blue-violet backdrop. They enrich in a new way the night life of a fantastical Near Eastern landscape. This decorative art vase would make a fine addition to any home or collection. This fantastical design comes from the hand of Bjorn Wiinblad for the world renowned Rosenthal Company.
The Rosenthal Company was founded by Philip Rosenthal Sr. in 1879 in Selb, Germany. Over the decades, it has emerged to one of the world's finest porcelain and crystal manufacturers in the world. Rosenthal recognizes that throughout history the things that people have valued the most and that have held their value, have always been innovative, original and reflective of the spirit of the time. For this reason, Rosenthal continues to be very collectible and cherished even to this day. This particular piece was designed by Scandinavian designer Bjorn Wiinblad (see signature in the photos). Born in Denmark, Wiinblad began working for Rosenthal in 1957. He designed numerous ranges, including “Asimmetria”, “Lotus”, “Romanze”, and “Zauberflote”. Within the limited art series he created the furniture system “Die vier Himmelsrichtunaen”. He also designed porcelain greeting cards. The creative energy that informs every single Wiinblad piece enabled him to create a style like no other that is instantly recognizable. He is truly a renaissance artist and, though he is no longer with us, will be remembered for generations to come.
