Degas had his ballerinas, Toulouse his can-can girls, and Soyer his hip, Bohemian-looking mid-century dancers. This impressive old print is a reminder of the Russian-born American artist's powers at his peak. The socialist painter lived from 1899-1974 and had a prolific output.
This splendid old print, mounted under glass, depicts seven dancers in a studio. Black wooden frame included, measurements are approx. 32" x 25". As is evident in photos, the print is sitting slightly askew after all these decades. I was reluctant to rip open the brittle old paper at the back in order to readjust it, though this is something that could undoubtedly be easily accomplished by a buyer. This wonderful old decorative piece is in extremely good to excellent vintage condition.
