For sale here is a HUGE vintage 1950s 60s handmade sterling silver abstract modernist constructivist belt buckle by John Szymak of Dallas Texas. His work appeared in the seminal exhibition, "Designer - Craftsmen USA 1960", and was pictured in the Craft Horizons issue (July/August 1960) that covered the exhibition. Measures 3-3/8" by 2-1/4" and weighs 55.4 grams total. Marked at back as shown, "Szymak Sterling". This buckle was probably decorated with oxidized sections when originally made, but an over-zealous earlier owner polished away any sign of how it may have been done. Rather than apply an oxidizing agent, I'll leave that up to the discretion of the new owner. (Easy to do with liver of sulphur and a paint brush which can both be purchased online from jewelry supply websites.) Excellent vintage condition with just fine light wear as shown - please view the photos, read the description, and ask all questions prior to purchase. I am open to reasonable offers from serious buyers.
