For sale here is a HUGE vintage 1963 original lithograph poster for a show for German artist Max Ernst at the Kunsthaus Zurich museum with the litho design by Atelier Walter Diethelm VSG (Swiss, 1913-1986) and printed by Wolfsberg-Druck in Zurich. This is an original lithograph poster not a reproduction, and is in original condition without any added backing or other reconditioning. These vintage exhibition lithos were printed in very small numbers, and most of them were damaged or lost over the years. Very few survived, especially in any kind of display-worthy condition. Measures 35.5" wide by 50.25" tall! Marked as shown in my photos. (Please note: there are small glass weights in some of my photos which are there to hold the posters down and are not part of the poster or damage of any kind.) Very good to excellent condition, with some slight creases and some edgewear and one dot of discoloration near one edge as shown all of which will disappear when matted and framed - see my photos for close-ups. This artwork has never been framed, and will ship rolled. I acquired this vintage exhibition poster, along with many other works of graphic art, from the estate of a former gallery owner from San Francisco. The Eric Locke Gallery was famous in it's day for championing the graphics arts by up and coming artists from around the world, and was one of only two galleries in San Francisco that sold graphic arts when it opened, the other being the world-famous Gumps. The Eric Locke gallery was open from 1955 to 1965, though all the artworks were acquired prior to 1964, when the proprietor had a stroke and was no longer able to run the business. After closing the gallery in 1965, these artworks were placed in storage until the present.
