For sale here is a HUGE and rare vintage 1940s handmade sterling silver pre-Columbian Aztec Chief design brooch designed by Margot in the early days of Los Castillo in Taxco. A wonderful and evocative design that features a proud Aztec warrior of the Eagle clan with flowing headdress of feathers flowing out behind his head! Very rare and quite magnificent! Measures 3-1/2" by 2-3/4" and weighs a hefty 42.5 grams total. Marked at back as shown, "Los Castillo Taxco Sterling Made in Mexico" and design number "487". Though this brooch has a design number, it is quite rare and I have only seen one other example in my 45+ year career. It has been in my personal collection for many years, but my collection has grown too large, and it is time for some of these rare and wonderful treasures to find new homes. Excellent vintage condition with just fine light wear and tarnish as shown - please view the photos, read the description, and ask all questions prior to purchase. I am open to reasonable offers from serious buyers.
