For sale here is a SUPERB and quite rare vintage 1950s 60s handmade metales casados (married metals) sterling brass black onyx and turquoise Mexican modernist pre-Columbian Aztec Warrior design pin/pendant necklace by maestro Tono of Taxco from his early ‘piedra negra’ (black stone) line of jewelry. A superbly striking design superlatively crafted by hand by only the most talented silversmiths of the era! A piece like this one could take several days to complete even for the best of the best silversmiths due to the intricacy and delicacy of the craftsmanship required. In addition, the pendant can be detached from the chain to be worn as a brooch, and the necklace can be worn alone or with a different hook-drop pendant. The pin/pendant measures 2-1/2” by 1-3/8”, and hangs from its original 26” handmade sterling and turquoise chain. The entire necklace weighs a total of 45 grams. Fully marked at back of the pendant as shown in my photos, "Tono Piedra Negra Sterling 925 Taxco AC", with "Hecho en Mexico" and shop mark "Cecilia" (Tono sold some of his work thru the Cecilia shop in the 50s and 60s), and design number "T248". Excellent vintage condition with just fine light wear and tarnish as shown - please view the photos, read the description, and ask all questions prior to purchase. I am open to reasonable offers from serious buyers.
