For sale here is a BIG and rare vintage 1930s hand carved wood African Ubangi woman design brooch pin with brass necklace and red Bakelite 'bell' earrings and with plastic-coated cord headdress designed by Martha Sleeper. The earrings move when worn. A very similar design is pictured in the photos I've included from the 1938 Colliers magazine article "The Gadget Girl" about Martha Sleeper and her new career in making whimsical Bakelite and other materials jewelry. I've had the brooch pictured in the article several times, but this is the only one I've had with the red Bakelite earrings! Guaranteed genuine vintage 1930s 40s era original brooch pin, not a reproduction or remake from old materials. Measures 3-3/8" by 1-7/8" wide by 1" thick. Excellent vintage condition with just fine light wear as shown - please view the photos, read the description, and ask all questions prior to purchase. I am open to reasonable offers from serious buyers.
