For sale here is a WHIMSICAL, quite rare, and wonderful vintage 1930s 40s Art Deco hand carved and painted Bakelite 'penguin' design letter holder paperweight. Carved from white bakelite (which has of course yellowed over the years) that has been carved and painted black in places, and with inset glass 'eyes', all on a black Bakelite base. Super cute and the perfect desk accessory for the Bakelite collector seeking the rare and unusual! Guaranteed to be a genuine vintage 1930s 40s Bakelite object, not a reproduction or re-make from old parts. Measures 4-1/2" tall by 2-1/2" at widest, and the base measures just under 2" square, and this item weighs 114.5 grams total. This item is semi-translucent when held up to a light source, but I can only see light pass thru it in the thinnest sections. Excellent vintage condition with some fine light wear and paint loss as shown in photos - please view the photos, read the description, and ask all questions prior to purchase.
