For sale here is a HUGE vintage 1950s 60s handmade brass modernist Bird brooch by East Coast studio jeweler Peggy Miller from the Baltimore area. Very little is known about Peggy Miller, and I have seen only a few pieces of her jewelry over the years, and this may be because she only made jewelry for a short time. I have read online that she was an apprentice in the Betty Cooke workshop for a short time, but I haven't been able to verify this information. We'll just to have to let her jewelry speak for itself! I have seen jewelry by her in sterling, brass, and some pieces with wood sections. Her jewelry designs are very mid-century modern, and usually abstract or geometric, although I have seen a few stylized figural pieces too. This fine brooch measures 3-1/2" across by 2" tall, and weighs about 11.3 grams total. Marked at back as shown, "Peggy Miller". Excellent vintage condition with just fine light wear as shown - please view the photos, read the description, and ask all questions prior to purchase. I am open to reasonable offers from serious buyers.
