For sale here is a SUPERB vintage 1950s handmade copper enamel sculptural modernist hinged bangle bracelet with matching earrings set designed by Jerry Fels for his company Matisse Renoir from Los Angeles, California. Named "Scultura" by the designer, and one of the most flamboyantly mid-century modernist designs by this firm, and one of my personal favorites! Jerry Fels was a veteran of the second World War, and he came back to the US with a love of everything French, and thus the names of his companies, Renoir for the all copper jewelry, and Matisse for the copper enamel. (He also had a short-lived line of sterling silver jewelry named Sauteur.) Matisse Renoir was in business from the late 1940s to the early 1960s, after which Fels went on to design sculpture and art for the home which he signed Jeré (a French-ified version of his first name), and he has become perhaps more famous for his latter endeavors than for the earlier jewelry designs. I'm personally a big fan of both eras, and the entirety of his work! The bracelet measures 1-3/4" wide at top with inside circumference (wearable) of 7-1/2", and weighs a hefty 85.5 grams total. The earrings measure 1" by 7/8", and weigh about 7 grams total for the pair. The bracelet is marked "Matisse" as shown, the earrings have been converted to pierced and the markings have been lost in the process. Excellent vintage condition with just fine light wear and some spots of tarnish as shown but no loss or damage to the enamel and only minor tarnish to the copper as shown - please view the photos, read the description, and ask all questions prior to purchase. I am open to reasonable offers from serious buyers.
