For sale here is an original vintage 1960s 70s signed oil on board painting of an Victorian/Edwardian era woman by Leon D'Usseau (1918-1991 USA) of California. The artist was born in Los Angeles and studied under Archipenko and Gage at Chouinard. He worked in the film industry for several years before making his own art a full time career. His paintings were used in films, "The Man in the Grey Flannel Suit" and "Anything Goes" as well as the Perry Mason TV series. D'Usseau is listed in the Who's Who in Western Art, and his work has been shown at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and other museums, and is collected internationally. One of the hallmarks of D'Usseau's work is that he decorated the framing of his paintings as an integral part of the artwork. This painting is in the original frame which measures 20.5" by 24.5" by 1.75" deep. Signed "Dusso" as shown at front. There are a couple pinholes in the wood which are original and part of the artist's design, not damage. Excellent vintage condition with just fine light wear and some residue from age as shown - please view the photos, read the description, and ask all questions prior to purchase. I am open to reasonable offers from serious buyers.
