For sale here is a large and quite heavy vintage 1940s 50s handmade sterling silver and carved azurmalachite stone figural brooch by Los Ballesteros of Taxco. What a wonderful carved stone! One of the prettiest pieces of azurmalachite that I have seen, and I've seen a few! From a rare series by Los Ballesteros of figural brooches with hand carved stone 'faces'. I've only ever seen a handful of this particular design brooch, and each example I've seen was using a different stone which leads me to believe that the series are all one of a kind or at least very small number editions. Measures 2-7/8" by 2-3/8" by a full 1/2" deep, and weighs a super hefty 48.6 grams total. Marked at back as shown, "Sterling 925 Hecho en Mexico Talleres de Los Ballesteros Taxco Group" and design number "14". Excellent vintage condition with just fine light wear and tarnish as shown - please view the photos, read the description, and ask all questions prior to purchase.
