For sale here is a STRIKING vintage 1960s handmade sterling silver metales casados brass black resin and green stone inlay Mexican modernist Faces pin pendant with matching screwback earrings originally designed by Stella Popowski for Los Castillo, then used by Popowski for her own company, and in this example made by one of her silversmiths but without the Popowski mark. This example was made by one of her silversmiths on their own time. This was an established practice in Taxco at the time, and the worker would be able to keep the proceeds of their work, but of course were not allowed to use the Popowski mark on these extracurricular efforts. Exactly the same line for line as the Los Castillo and the signed Popowski examples! (See the pair of signed Popowski cufflinks in my new store Cufflinks Galore here on Ruby Lane that are exactly the same!) The brooch pendant measures 1-7/8" by 1-3/4", and the earrings measure 1" by 1". The set weighs a hefty 46 grams total. The brooch is marked "Hecho en Mexico 925 Sterling" and silversmith mark "MPN". The earrings are less legibly marked as the screw backs were soldered over the markings which are mostly obscured, but you can still make out most of them on one earring, and only a bit on the other. Excellent vintage condition with just fine light wear and some spots of tarnish as shown - please view the photos, read the description, and ask all questions prior to purchase.
