For sale here is a SUPERB vintage 1970s handmade copper enamel Mexican modernist Pre Hispanic Figure wall-hanging/artwork by enamelist Virginia Tapia of Mexico. Tapia studied art prior to apprenticing with Miguel Pineda in the mid-1960s, and left to work on her own around 1970. This artwork features a seated pre-Hispanic figure holding a bowl aloft from which are rising flames as in some sort of ceremonial stance during a religious ritual. I've had this design by Tapia once before but in a different color palette. Her work is rare and quite hard to find on the market today, and I've only seen a handful of pieces over the years. I purchased this piece and a couple other from one of her relatives. Excellent vintage condition with just fine light wear from display but no chips cracks or other damage of any sort - please view the photos, read the description, and ask all questions prior to purchase. I am open to reasonable offers from serious buyers.
