For sale here is a RARE and wonderful vintage 1960s 70s handmade silver-plate over brass and abalone inlay Mexican modernist 'flying saucer' serving dish / bowl by Los Castillo of Taxco. A great mid century modernist design, and so unique, possibly one of a kind! Measures 7" tall by 9" diameter, and weighs 1047.2 grams or 2 pounds and 5 ounces total. Marked on the underside as shown, "Los Castillo Taxco Hecho a Mano Mexico". One of their early silver-plated pieces prior to the use of the 'Plateado' mark. Also, note that there is no design number which means that this is either a very early prototype or a one of a kind item. Certainly the only one of this design that I have seen in my 45+ year career! There is a some wear thru around the marks as shown, also on the underside in spots but nothing that shows from above or when in use or on display. Excellent vintage condition with just fine light wear and tarnish as shown - please view the photos, read the description, and ask all questions prior to purchase. I am open to reasonable offers from serious buyers.
