For sale here is a SUPERB vintage 1950s 60s handmade mixed metals brass brushed silver metal and wood Mexican modernist cross wall hanging art by the Emaus workshop of Cuernavaca Mexico also known as Emaus and the Talleres Monasticos. Most likely designed by Ernesto Paulsen, a Mexican mid century modernist sculptor/architect who designed for the Emaus workshop in the 1950s. Probably one of the most stunning pieces of religious art that I've seen by Emaus! Pure religious art but also pure mid Century modernist as well! There is a bail at top so this artwork can be hung from a cord in a window or a niche, but also has a small notch for a nail at back so it can be hung on the wall as an artwork. Could also be worn, and the previous owner was a Christian minister, so may have been actually worn during a service on a special occasion, I'm guessing. In any case, quite an artwork and the only example of this design that I've seen by them! Measures 9-1/2" including the bail at top by 8" wide by 7/8" thickest, and weighs 311.7 grams total or about 10 ounces prior to packing. Marked at back as shown, "Emaus". Excellent vintage condition with just fine light wear as shown - please view the photos, read the description, and ask all questions prior to purchase. I am open to reasonable offers from serious buyers.
