For sale here is a RARE vintage 1950s handmade mixed metals sterling silver brass and copper married metals Mexican modernist Fish design brooch pin designed by Ana Nunez de Brilanti in Taxco. Brilanti opened her shop "Victoria" in 1940 in Taxco, and she was well-known for the proficiency of her craftsmen who were masters of married metals (metales casados), a time-consuming and technically demanding metalworking technique using various 'colors' of metals like silver, copper, brass etc soldered together like puzzle pieces in a seamless style that resembles a painting in metals. This is a fun and whimsical modernist fish design using the married metals technique. Design number 371, so it's not one of a kind, but not seen often and the other I've seen was not exactly the same, so a rare piece. Measures 1-5/8" by 1-1/2", and weighs 6.5 grams total. Marked at back as shown, "Victoria Mexico Taxco Sterling" design number "371" and Eagle 12. Excellent vintage condition with fine light wear and some tarnish as shown - please view the photos, read the description, and ask all questions prior to purchase. I am open to reasonable offers from serious buyers.
