For sale here is a SUPERB vintage 1950s handmade sterling silver Mexican geometric modernist design necklace with matching screwback earrings by Reveriano Castillo of Taxco. Castillo started out as an apprentice working for Spratling and went on as a master craftsman with Aguilar before opening his own shop with his wife Maria in 1952 in Taxco. They were in business there until 1992. This set is an early example of Castillo's work in the mid century modernist vein, and is quite heavy for it's size and very well crafted! (See the matching bracelet for sale in another listing in my store here on Ruby Lane.) The necklace measures 14" wearable (choker) by 3/4" widest, the earrings measure 1" by 3/4", and the set weighs a super hefty 96 grams total. Marked as shown on all three pieces, maker mark of R inside C, also "Sterling Taxco", design number "50" and Eagle 3. There is some wear at the edges of the smaller links but not at all noticeable when worn. Excellent vintage condition with just fine light wear and tarnish as shown - please view the photos, read the description, and ask all questions prior to purchase. I am open to reasonable offers from serious buyers.
