For sale here is an original vintage 1960s 70s enamel on steel artwork titled "Little Town" by American artist/enamelist Miriam Shorr of Florida. This is an original artwork hand-painted enamel on steel in two panels laid down on a black plexiglass (lucite) backing, and with original labels on back as shown. Here's a short biography of the artist that I found online...
Miriam Shorr studied painting in New York with Jean Liberte, Xavier Gonzalies (sic), and Julian Levi. She has had numerous exhibitions all over the country incl. Univ. of Miami, Tampa, Brandeis, Maine, Rhode Island, Albany, Ga., Rutgers, Coly, etc. She has exhibited and lectured in museums, including Brooklyn, N.Y., Riverside, N.Y., Whitney, etc. She has served on Boards of Artists Equity, N.Y., National Assn. of Women Artists, was exhibition chairman of the Sarasota Artists Assn. and Editor of their Bulletin for three years. Her awards include the Newcastle Award of the Natl. Assn. of Women Artists (twice) and many other awards. She is represented in the Who’s Who of American Women. During the 1985 season she was the recipient of 10 awards in Florida and her paintings are in many collections.
This artwork measures 18" by 7" at the outside of the frame, the enamel section measures 16" by 5" (two panels that are each 8" by 5"). Marked at front in the enamel, "MS" for Miriam Shorr, also has original artist labels at back as shown in the photos. No damage or loss to the enamel whatsoever. Excellent vintage condition with just fine light wear to the plexiglass backing mostly at edges as shown - please view the photos, read the description, and ask all questions prior to purchase.
