For sale here is a SUPERB set of vintage 1950s handmade copper modernist necklace and bracelet designed by Jerry Fels for Renoir of California. Jerry Fels was a veteran of the second World War, and he came back to the US with a love of everything French, and thus the names of his companies, Renoir for the all copper jewelry, and Matisse for the copper enamel. (He also had a short-lived line of sterling silver jewelry named Sauteur.) Matisse Renoir was in business from the late 1940s to the early 1960s, after which Fels went on to design sculpture and art for the home using the business name Jere, and he has become perhaps more famous for his latter endeavors than for the earlier jewelry designs. I'm personally a big fan of both eras, and the entirety of his work! This set is perhaps one of his most striking modernist designs, and one of my personal favorites! The necklace measures 7/8" wide and can be worn from 12" to 16" with the original chain. The bracelet measures 1-1/8" wide and fits up to 7.5" wrist. The set weighs 91.1 grams total. The necklace is unmarked, and the bracelet is marked "Renoir" as shown. This is a well known design by Renoir, and is pictured in book on the subject. Excellent vintage condition with just fine light wear and tarnish as shown - please view the photos, read the description, and ask all questions prior to purchase. I am open to reasonable offers from serious buyers.
