For sale here is a RARE and wonderful vintage 1950s handmade hammered sterling silver Figure Eight modernist design necklace with matching earrings set designed by Margot Van Voorhies for her workshop Margot de Taxco of Mexico. Lovely set with hammered recesses and polished raised edges. One of her earliest designs (#5100) this design is titled "Figure Eight" in the Morrill book on Margot, and the complete set is shown on page 114 in that book. A big and bold design that makes a statement when worn! The necklace measures 1-5/8" wide at front with 16-1/2" wearable inside. The earrings measure 1-1/4" by 5/8". The set weighs a super hefty 112.6 grams total. Marked as shown with crisp stamped markings on an applied plaque, "Margot de Taxco" along with "Sterling Made in Mexico" in a circle, design number "5100", and Eagle 16. Excellent vintage condition with just fine light wear and tarnish as shown - wonderful original patina that I've left undisturbed - please view the photos, read the description, and ask all questions prior to purchase. I am open to reasonable offers from serious buyers.
