For sale here is a rare vintage 1950s one of a kind handmade sterling silver modernist tie bar by California metalsmith/enamelist James Parker of San Diego. Parker's jewelry is extremely rare, and this is an especially fine one of a kind example! This exact clip was shown in the exhibition, 'San Diego Craft Revolution' at the Mingei Museum in San Diego California in 2011-12, and is pictured in the book from the exhibition on page 59 in the section on Parker. James Parker's work was also featured in the California Design exhibitions in Pasadena and other design and art books from the 1960s and 70s. He was a member of the Allied Craftsmen in San Diego for over 30 years. This tie clip measures 2" by 3/8", and weighs a hefty 15 grams total. Marked at back as shown with Parker's maker's mark, also "Hand Made" and "Sterling". Excellent vintage condition with just fine light wear and tarnish as shown - please view the photos, read the description, and ask all questions prior to purchase. I am open to reasonable offers from serious buyers.
