For sale here is a SUPERB and rare - one of a kind - vintage 1950s handmade sterling silver modernist bracelet by American artist/silversmith Ruth Berridge (1921-2004). She is very well known to collectors of mid century modernist jewelry, though her jewelry items are relatively scarce compared to most. A one of a kind entirely handmade and incredibly complex design bracelet of convex plaques alternating with concave plaques with two rows of faceted crystal beads above each of the concave links. This bracelet is from her personal collection and no doubt was worn by her, and was purchased from her estate after her death. (I am also listing a brooch that I think she probably wore with this bracelet, although it's not a perfect match, but made from the same materials.) Measures 1-3/8" wide with inside wearable circumference of 7-1/2", but due to the unique construction of the closure the bracelet will fit a 6-1/2" wrist or less. (A silversmith could add an extension link or two inside at the closure to allow it to fit a larger size - maybe 1/2" to 1" - but without altering the visual impact of the design.) Weighs a super hefty 83.3 grams total. Marked as shown, "Berridge" and "Sterling". Excellent vintage condition with just fine light wear and tarnish as shown - please view the photos, read the description, and ask all questions prior to purchase. I am open to reasonable offers from serious buyers.
