For sale here is an original vintage 1950s pen and ink and wash on paper of a farmhouse in the midwestern countryside by American artist Kady Faulkner (1901-1977), and still in it's period wood frame and matte and under glass. The artist was born Katherine Burnap Faulkner in 1901 in Syracuse, New York. She earned her BA in Art in Syracuse before continuing her studies at the Art Students League of New York for two years, and in 1928 she moved to Nebraska to study at UNLincoln. She signed her work "Kady Faulkner", no doubt a nickname, and was known for her work as a muralist, a painter, and an art instructor. She did work for the WPA in the 1930s and joined the National Association of Women Painters and Sculptors in 1936. She gained widespread recognition for her work in the middle of the 20th century showing her work as far away as New York City, and her work is in the collection of the Smithsonian, and many other American museums. This fine artwork is signed at bottom right at front, "Kady Faulkner", and is still in its original period matte and frame and under glass. The outer edges of the frame measure 23" by 17.75" by 1.5" deep, and the inner edges of the matte measure 16.75" by 11". I'm sure the artwork extends underneath the matting, but I haven't had the artwork out of the frame to examine it, and there may be further information on the inside papers. The artwork was photographed under glass in the frame so there may be shadows or reflections from the glass that are not part of the artwork. Excellent vintage condition with just fine light wear to the outer edges of the frame as shown - please view the photos, read the description, and ask all questions prior to purchase. I am open to reasonable offers from serious buyers.
