For sale here is a HUGE vintage 1990s one of a kind handmade mixed metals (sterling, brass, copper) with glass and very small stones post-modernist reliquary fibula style brooch pin by American silversmith Julie Koebbe. A very large and impressive one of a kind piece of art to wear! Julie Koebbe is an American artist and silversmith from the northeast part of the country who spent some time working under Thomas Mann in New Orleans after completing her studies. She is very interested in the ancient concept of jewelry as reliquary, and this massive brooch is a great example of that. At top is a small box with prong-set glass front that encloses three small stones. The entire brooch is in mixed metals including sterling silver, copper and brass, and has a very interesting post-modern design reminiscent of gears and mechanical parts. Measures 5-1/4" long by just under 1/2" wide at top, and weighs 14.5 grams total. Marked as shown, "Koebbe" copyright symbol and dated "1997". Excellent vintage condition with just fine light wear and tarnish as shown - please view the photos, read the description, and ask all questions prior to purchase. I am open to reasonable offers from serious buyers.
