For sale here is a RARE vintage 1950s handmade copper enamel mid-century modernist design link bracelet with matching clip earrings designed by Jerry Fels for his company Matisse Renoir from Los Angeles, California. Jerry Fels was a veteran of the second World War, and he came back to the US with a love of everything French, and thus the names of his companies, Renoir for the all copper jewelry, and Matisse for the copper enamel. (He also had a short-lived line of sterling silver jewelry named Sauteur.) Matisse Renoir was in business from the late 1940s to the early 1960s, after which Fels went on to design sculpture and art for the home using the business name Jere, and he has become perhaps more famous for his latter endeavors than for the earlier jewelry designs. I'm personally a big fan of both eras, and the entirety of his work! The last photo is of an advertisement from the fall of 1956 showing this design, unfortunately in black and white. The bracelet measures 6-5/8" wearable length by 1-1/8" wide. The earrings measure 1-1/8" by 3/4". All three pieces are marked "Matisse" as shown. Excellent vintage condition with just fine light wear and tarnish as shown - please view the photos, read the description, and ask all questions prior to purchase. I am open to reasonable offers from serious buyers.
